MAIN ENGINE
Working to quality is always difficult because so many quality engines now exist in the world today thanks to modern engineering techniques. The designers of this vessel pondered on which Manufacturer to use and then on which engine. In the end after much deliberation they selected YANMAR as it is possible to get spares for this engine in almost every port in the world.

The YANMAR 8N330 – EN selected for its simplistic 8 cylinder in line engine with its 330mm bore x 440mm stroke. With the whole world concerned about emission it will then be noted that this engine just turns at 620rpm and is both fuel efficient and produces very low emissions. Rated at 4500BHP (3310kW) this engine will power this vessel at around the 12 knots.

The power is transmitted down through the GWC66.75 reduction gearbox with its 4.9687:1 reduction down the shaft to the single propeller. The five bladed MAU 4.56m Dia CU3Ni AL-BRONZE propeller delivers the power when required. This combination of engine – gearbox – propeller will operate around the 12 knots and with an incredible endurance of some 30 days or 6000n miles whichever comes first.
